how do i know what flash memory is going to work in my canon xsi camera?

ive read some reviews where the flash does not work in some models, i dont want to get stuck with an incompatible card! is there a website that matches up flash cards with cameras? or am i taking a chance at just buying one?

When choosing memory you need to look at 2.5 things:

1: The form factor. Most cameras take SD, but there are other memory formats.

1.5: If the camera takes SD, does it take SDHC? They physically look the same, but SDHC does not work on many older cameras.

2.5: What is the maximum size your camera can take? SDHC cards come as big as 32gb, but many cameras can only take up to 8gb.

The XSi takes SD/SDHC. I’m not sure of its maximum size (but I wouldn’t buy larger than 8gb anyways).

As long as the cards you buy are SDHC, they should work. As a precaution, don’t buy your cards on eBay, and try to stick with the better-known brands.
