Sony CYBERSHOT Memory error. Just bought a new one gig stick and it is showing an error message.?

DSC-S70 have used all the sony memory sticks and just upgraded to a 1 gig. It shows MEMORY STICK ERROR and no access of the card. Can you tell me if the camera is compatable with larger than 256? the 512 and one gig won’t work… why not ? or is there something I can download to the camera to upgrade it?

maybe it cant read a one gig memory, maybe it can only read up to 512mb only

Internal memory is 10.5 MB, and the external memory is expandable using a SD, MMC or SDHC card.
