Will a 4gb Memory Stick Pro or Pro Duo work in my Sony DSC F717 camera?

Sony’s website shows that the F717 compatibility tops out at 2gb

If Sony says 4GB is not supported I would not use it. Using it will give you troubles in case of problems. (Warrenty etc.).
I believe even if the camera recognices the stick storage will be most probably limited to 2GB anyway.
Even the 2GB stick will allow you to store more than 1000 pics on it.
